U.S. Rep Morelle Recognizes ASEZ WAO Volunteers for Tree Planting Efforts at Norton Village Park

Over 10 ASEZ WAO volunteers planted 10 trees in Rochester, NY, at Norton Village Park on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. The recent partnership with the City of Rochester resolves to reduce greenhouse gases through ASEZ WAO’s Mother’s Forest campaign. The campaign plans to plant 7 billion trees to counter climate change. So far, 6,839 trees have been planted in 14 countries with the help of 2,509 volunteers.

The Role of Tree Canopies

Norton Village Park is one of the city’s hottest heat zones. With the newly planted trees, the area is expected to see a considerable temperature reduction. Tree canopies in places like Rochester serve as air purifiers and reduce the heat island effect. Also, trees provide shade and cool down the environment through transpiration, which releases moisture into the air.

ASEZ WAO’s partnership with the City of Rochester symbolizes unity and shared responsibility to help our neighbors stay healthy during the hottest times of the year.

The Rochester Director of Neighborhood Services, Daisy Rivera Algarin, expressed the importance of ASEZ WAO’s mission. She said, “Tree planting is part of the Rochester 2034 to beautify the city. We are happy about this partnership, and we need trees that can provide a lot of resources for the future.”

Volunteers Recognized for Their Tree Planting Efforts

In recognition of the efforts made by the volunteers, Representative Joseph Morelle issued a Certificate of Merit. The City of Rochester’s token of appreciation to the volunteers was deeply cherished. Moreover, this sentiment reflects ASEZ WAO’s conviction that working together can inspire change and safeguard the planet.

In a world facing environmental concerns, ASEZ WAO offers hope and inspiration. In summary, the tree planting at Norton Village Park addresses climate change, reduces greenhouse gases, and contributes to a healthier and more comfortable environment for the residents of Rochester.
