On June 30, 2025, the Bronx took a bold step forward. Nearly 100 residents, city leaders, and youth gathered at Bronx Borough Hall for the ASEZ Crime Prevention Forum. The event celebrated the conclusion of the Don’t Dump on the Bronx campaign and highlighted ASEZ’s global Reduce Crime Together initiative. The forum emphasized the power of the youth working together to improve their community.
The forum opened with an ASEZ introduction video and a recap of six major cleanup events held by ASEZ, ASEZ STAR, and ASEZ WAO Bronx chapters throughout June. These efforts targeted sites like Bailey Avenue, Cedar Avenue, Soundview Park, Webster Avenue, and Westchester Avenue. More than 240 volunteers collected over 200 bags of trash, removed bulk waste, and beautified high-traffic areas. Local residents showed their support by honking, cheering, and stopping to thank the volunteers. Some shared that they now feel safer parking their cars or walking through these once-neglected spaces.

Building a Safer Future Starts with Mindset
University students and ASEZ volunteers Christian Chavez and Louis Torres delivered a live presentation about how changing mindsets and improving the environment can help prevent crime. They emphasized that youth have the power to reshape their neighborhoods and their future.
“When you put young people at the table and give them the opportunity, they understand their power and their influence,” said Vanessa L. Gibson, Bronx Borough President.

The event concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing ASEZ, ASEZ STAR, and ASEZ WAO. In a historic moment, June 30 was officially declared ASEZ Day in the Bronx—a testament to the impact of consistent volunteerism and the potential of youth leadership.
