On March 23, 2025, the Church of God in the Bronx hosted a community blood drive ahead of the Passover. The goal was to donate blood to help save physical lives, as the Passover reminds us how God saves us spiritually through His blood. The event brought together church members, volunteers, and local residents to make a difference in a very real and meaningful way.
The Church aimed for 75 donations, but the event surpassed expectations and reached 85 donations. Since one donation can save up to three lives, this effort potentially helped 255 people in need. It also helped bring attention to the ongoing blood shortage that affects hospitals and patients across the country.
While giving blood, guests also had the chance to learn more about the Church and its teachings through the panel presentations. Some visitors were so moved by the message about the Passover that they stayed to study the Bible and deepen their understanding of God’s word.

Coming Together to Save Lives
Volunteers expressed how meaningful the day was for them. Jean Lizardo shared, “Volunteering for this event was a very rewarding experience. Knowing that the simple act of donating blood can save lives emphasizes the importance of coming together as a community for these very important events. I am grateful to join and hope that others can also do the same in the future.”
Natasha Chattar from the New York Blood Center added, “In the past we have ran blood drives here and it has been a phenomenal job both times. We have had a huge response from both the Church and the community to help those in need.”
The Church of God in the Bronx continues to shine a light on the power of giving—both physically and spiritually—as members prepare for the Passover and work together to help those in need.
