The Land of Morning Calm: A Campaign for Global Peace

On August 3, 2025 ASEZ WAO joined hands with the Elohim Club, a recognized United Nations Staff Recreation Council group. Together, they hosted their first Korean cultural experience event near the United Nations Headquarters.

In today’s world, where many challenges and divisions exist, it is increasingly important to uphold the values that unite humanity. Global values for peace, kindness, and respect brought together attendees from many cultures at The Land of Morning Calm event.

Empowering the Next Generation to Build Peace Across Communities

More than a cultural gathering, the evening helped people connect, share kinship, and find renewed hope. Through harmony and resilience, the celebration honored Korean culture and the lasting values of family, unity, and compassion. Building on this spirit of unity, ASEZ WAO inspires the next generation of leaders to bridge communities and cultures. They cultivate this growth through youth service, cross-cultural collaboration, and community partnerships. Recognizing that the world is a global village, they believe peace begins at home and within our communities.

New York State Assemblyman Lester Chang awarded the event with a Certificate of Recognition. As today’s leaders light the path, volunteers find inspiration, and the next generation rises to carry the torch forward.

“One thing I noticed: if this group gets bigger, there will be more benefits I can see — not just here in the city, but statewide, nationwide; it will be a worldwide service,” said Kenneth Paek, who joined as the representative of New York State Assemblyman Lester Chang. “You [ASEZ WAO] are doing God’s work. I want to volunteer my time and get the community more involved,” he added.

Bridging Culture and the SDGs for a Better World

Wherever ASEZ WAO volunteers stand, they see people connected by shared humanity. Inspired by Korea, the Land of Morning Calm—named for its peaceful mornings and hopeful spirit—they seek to strengthen unity and solidarity across the globe.

In addition, distinguished UN guests joined for an evening of connection, peace-building, and discussions about future initiatives to benefit people and the planet. The event also emphasized collaboration and thoughtful dialogue on shared goals between the UN’s SDG goals and ASEZ WAO’s Earth and Humanity campaigns.
