ASEZ WAO Cleanup at Maria Hernandez Park

Sixty ASEZ WAO volunteers met at Maria Hernandez Park in Bushwick, Brooklyn for the No More GPGP Campaign. They split into small teams and moved through the park, picking up plastic bottles, wrappers, and other litter. Volunteers swept paths, gathered trash along benches, and collected waste near the playground and green spaces. By the end of the morning, the park looked noticeably tidier, and piles of collected trash showed the impact of their efforts.

Celebrating Teamwork at Maria Hernandez Park

After the cleanup, one volunteer reflected on the effort. “A project like this would have taken hours for just a few people to finish, but because so many volunteers came together, we completed it in just over an hour. It was a powerful reminder of what our community can accomplish when we work side by side.”

The cleanup at Maria Hernandez Park reflected the ongoing work of the No More GPGP Campaign. Events like this raise awareness about plastic pollution and encourage residents to take simple actions to care for shared spaces. Volunteers left with a sense of accomplishment, seeing the difference their teamwork made across the playgrounds, walkways, and garden areas.
